TravelPulse.com reports that Celebrity Cruises is designing eight new food-and-wine cruises for 2012 hosted by its own chefs and culinary experts. The first voyage will be the "Excite the Senses Culinary Theme Cruise" aboard the "Celebrity Eclipse" departing March 24, hosted by Celebrity's vice president of culinary operations.

Celebrity Cruises christened its new ship "Celebrity Silhouette" yesterday in Hamburg. Signature Travel Network CEO Michelle Morgan (pictured, center) served as the ship's godmother. The vessel will begin a series of 12-night Mediterranean/Holy Land cruises tomorrow roundtrip from Rome.

Celebrity Cruises will send its ship "Celebrity Millennium" (pictured) into drydock in the Bahamas next April for a $40 million makeover with Solstice-class amenities. The upgrades will include more than 100 new or redesigned AquaClass cabins (plus additional standard cabins), new balconies on its eight Celebrity Suites, three new eateries (Qsine, Cafe al Bacio, and Bistro on 5), a Martini Bar, a Cellar Masters wine bar, and other changes. In other news, the line's new ship "Celebrity Silhouette" will have an open-air grilling restaurant called The Lawn Club Grill on its top deck, with "grill masters" helping passengers prepare their own meals.

Celebrity Cruises will roll out a one-day "Summer Solstice" sale tomorrow (June 21) for almost all of its departures between Oct. 1 and April 30, 2013. Your can lock in up to $150 in onboard credits and deposits reduced by half. ("Celebrity Xpedition" and chartered voyages are excluded.)

Celebrity Cruises announced its new series of "webisodes" (short web-based videos focusing on what makes Celebrity unique and special. The first webisode is "Celebrity Silhouette Style," featuring Dan Hanrahan (the line's president and CEO) taking viewers on a tour of Celebrity's newest ship at its shipyard in Germany. New webisodes will be released twice a month. You'll find the videos at www.celebritycruiseschannel.com, and you can embed them into your own web site by starting the video, clicking "pause" and then "embed," and copying the HTML code that pops up for inserting into your own site.
In other news, Celebrity launched a sale through June 9 for October and November sailings aboard the "Celebrity Equinox" and the "Celebrity Solstice," with discounted fares and 50 percent reduced deposits (plus onboard credits and prepaid gratuities for suite bookings).

Celebrity Cruises posted its Europe schedule for 2012. Five ships - the "Celebrity Constellation" (pictured) alongside the line's four newest vessels (the "Celebrity Eclipse," the "Celebrity Equinox," the "Celebrity Silhouette," and the "Celebrity Solstice") - will operate 19 different itineraries from six departure ports: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Istanbul, Rome, Southampton, and Venice
